The Acid Wristwatch was a modified gold, analogue, wristwatch equipped with a secret compartment containing an acid-like substance capable of eating through metal. The device was developed by the British Secret Intelligence Service's (SIS/MI6) research and development division, Q-Branch and was used during the 1985 James Bond storybook Blackclaw's Doomsday Plot.
History[]
Issued by Q during James Bond's mission briefing in London, the wristwatch later sees usage when 007 is captured while investigating SMERSH villain Blackclaw's man-made island. Left unguarded in a cell and chained to Dr. Margaret Manfield by the wrist, the spy uses the dissolving substance to break their metal shackles.
