From Tomorrow Never Dies - James Bond finds a syringes alongside bags of cocaine in Henry Gupta's safe.
A narcotic or recreational drugs refers to kinds of medical substances that are used recreationally without a therapeutic purpose, that affect human mental functions by causing paralyzing, euphoric, intoxicating or hallucinogenic effects. In most countries across the world, both the use and possession of drugs is a crime. Additionally, the production of drugs, trafficking and trade are used to finance organised crime. Drug trafficking also involves money laundering, smuggling, human trafficking and violence. The cultivation of drug plants - such as cocaine and cannabis - and the chemical waste from the production of synthetic drugs - such as amphetamine and MDMA - are destructive to nature. Countries in which narcotics become their main product can also pigeonhole their economies.
