Chief Petty Officer Hammond was M's Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy, who followed him into retirement serving as his butler in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service. He was portrayed by John Gay.
Biography[]
Hammond served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy with M until following M into retirement after he resigned to head MI6. He serves as the butler of M's private residence, Quarterdeck. After James Bond had discovered intel on the whereabouts of Ernst Stavro Blofeld he drove to Quarterdeck to inform M of his findings. Hammond greeted Commander Bond at the front door and showed him through to his former Admiral.
