James Bond: Moneypenny was a one-shot Dynamite James Bond comic focussing on Moneypenny. It was written by American comic book writer Jody Houser and illustrated by artist Jacob Edgar. The story was first published by Dynamite Entertainment on 30th August 2017 and was one of four books subsequently released in the "James Bond: Case Files" anthology on 7th August 2018.

Plot[]

As a child, Moneypenny saw several terrorist attacks on the news, which greatly distressed her friend at her school, who was bullied for her ethnicity being the same of the terrorists. She later used these experiences as motivation to join MI6, where she built up a reputation as one of their best field agents. Because of this, she was pulled from the field and chosen to act as M's personal bodyguard. A deal of her work involved her working as a secretary, however, the configuration of their offices made her his last line of defence.

Moneypenny accompanies M to Boston for negotiations with a Professor Hayes. While walking through the University, Moneypenny noticed that it was entirely deserted. On learning from Professor Hayes that there were still classes in session for a few more hours, Moneypenny becomes suspicious and orders the party to follow behind her. She draws fire from a sniper, which M is able to kill before Moneypenny gets Hayes to safety and tells the three other operatives with them to hold their positions. She then runs to the roof and picks off each of the five assailants in the courtyard with one bullet each before returning to the ground, where one of the other operatives shoots the only survivor of Moneypenny's shots, much to the group's surprise. M then checks one of the assassins' phones and discovers they had made several calls to his office despite Hayes insistence that they had never met. Moneypenny then suspects that the operative that shot the survivor had given them the information of Hayes' whereabouts. He then tries to run away, cementing his guilt, but Moneypenny shoots him in the thigh. He is arrested, and Moneypenny jokes to M that he really did need a babysitter, despite his insistence that becoming his bodyguard would not be a "babysitting job".
