Joe Don Baker (born February 12, 1936), is an American film actor from Groesbeck, Texas. He has played two Bond roles: the villain Brad Whitaker in The Living Daylights and Jack Wade, a CIA agent, in both GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies.
Baker is a prolific actor, having appeared in a wide variety of genres and films across a career lasting over four decades. Some of his most famous roles include the action comedy Fletch, the thriller Final Justice (which was also made into an MST3K episode), the sci-fi film Mars Attacks (featuring fellow Bond alumni Pierce Brosnan and Tom Jones), the maligned Bond parody Leonard Part 6 and the legal thriller Criminal Law, helmed by GoldenEye and Casino Royale director Martin Campbell.
Baker is thus one of only three actors to portray both a Bond ally and a villain. The two were Charles Gray who appeared as Dikko Henderson in You Only Live Twice and as Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Diamonds Are Forever and Walter Gotell who appeared as Morzeny, the Spectre Island trainer in From Russia with Love and General Gogol, head of the KGB on six occasions.
