Josef is a guard employed by Ernst Stavro Blofeld at his Piz Gloria clinic. A henchman in the 1969 James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, he is portrayed by Joseph Vasa and credited as "Piz Gloria receptionist".
Biography[]
Josef is the receptionist at Blofeld's fake clinic, Piz Gloria. Josef meets Bond at the entrance to the clinic and schedules an appointment for Bond, as "Sir Hilary," to see the doctor. Josef is often seen skulking around in the background during the first half of the film including putting in a phone call to Blofeld that Bond's ally Campbell is scaling the mountain, Shortly after this, he is seen on the phone again, presumably ordering Campbell's execution. He is also seen conversing with Irma Bunt in German as the two wonder by Bond's bedroom, who is trying to figure out how to open it from the inside.
Bond later encounters Josef again during his escape from Piz Gloria. As Bond is using an elevator, the bell goes off but no one comes out, making Josef suspicious. He goes to investigate, but Bond throws the door open and into him, knocking him out with several quick punches. Bond stashes Josef's unconscious body gagged and tied up in a store room full of skiing equipment
It is unknown what happened to Josef at the end of the film. It's possible that he was killed along with several other SPECTRE henchmen, but he may have not been at Piz Gloria at the time of the raid.
