Klaus Hergersheimer was a scientist employed by American technology firm, W.W. Tectronics. The character appeared in the 1971 James Bond film, Diamonds Are Forever, and was portrayed by American actor, Ed Bishop.

Biography[]

Hergersheimer was a scientist employed at Willard Whyte's Tectronics facility in the Nevada desert. As of 1971[1], he had been working for the company in "G section" for three years and was part of a team constructing an orbital laser weapon; commissioned by criminal mastermind, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who was posing as Whyte. His department was tasked with checking radiation shields for replacement. Hergersheimer unwittingly assisted British intelligence operative James Bond; allowing him to pass through a sealed security door with him, believing him to be a member of staff. The spy subsequently impersonated him to gain access to a secure laboratory where the satellite was being built by Professor Dr. Metz. Hergersheimer's inspection route took him to the lab shortly after Bond left - raising the alarm.
