Maryam d'Abo (born 27 December 1960) is a British actress and former model best known for playing the Slovakian cellist Kara Milovy in the 1987 James Bond film The Living Daylights where she starred opposite actor Timothy Dalton. A fan of the franchise since her youth, she was one of the few actresses who did not disown her experience as a James Bond Girl and agreed to be the patron of the James Bond france club in 2005[1]. D'Abo had previously tried unsuccessfully for an unknown role in the film Octopussy (1983)[1][2] and also audited to play the KGB agent Pola Ivanova in the earlier film, A View to a Kill (1985)[3]. She would later co-write the book Bond Girls Are Forever: The Women of James Bond as well as host the documentary of the same name. Apart from her James Bond-related work, the actress' credits include the martial arts film Shootfighter: Fight to the Death (1993), the TV movie Helen of Troy (2003) and the fantasy film Dorian Gray (2009).
