Mata Hari was a spy and the estranged lover of Sir James Bond. The character is mentioned in the non-Eon 1967 spoof James Bond film Casino Royale.

Mata Hari was a notorious honeytrap seducing men of numerous nationalities, including Sir James Bond. There is a portrait of her up in International Mothers' Help. Polo is, or was, very enamoured of her, and her daughter Mata Bond reminds him of her.
Behind the Scenes[]
The film plays fast and loose with historic dates and character ages, primarily with regards to Sir James Bond and his daughter, Mata Bond. Although Sir James is depicted as elderly, Mata Bond is depicted as only being in her early 20s. However, the film establishes that she is the daughter of Sir James and Mata Hari, who died in 1917. Assuming Casino Royale takes place in its year of release, 1967, Mata Bond should be no younger than 50 years of age.

Mata Hari was a real woman and looked quite different to the film painting, having dark hair and exotic features. Although she is commonly thought to have had connections to the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), this has been disputed in recent times. She is one of the most famous spies in history.
