The '''Metropolitan Police Service''', also called '''MPS''', '''Scotland Yard''' or '''The Met''' is the police force serving greater London (except the City of London). Founded by minister of the interior Robert Peel (therefore the nickname 'Bobbies') in 1829, the MPS was the first non-paramilitary police force worldwide.
Officers of the 'Met' can be first seen in The World Is Not Enough. At first, members of their Marine Police Force use dinghies in order to chase both Bond and Giulietta da Vinci, although these dinghies are only seen in extended shots.
A patrol boat is used as a waterway roadblock, but it is crushed by Giulietta's boat.
When Bond takes the Q-boat onto the streets, two police cars chase him. In an extended shot, one of them (the Rover) crashes into a parked truck.
The Metropolitan Police Service makes a prominent appearance in Skyfall, where Raoul Silva and his men are dressed in Metropolitan Police uniforms, and use a vehicle of the police force.
Heavily armed police officers patrol Embankment Tube Station, and several street scenes show police cars respond to the incidents caused by Silva's escape. After one of the subway trains derails, many police officers are seen outside Westminster Tube Station.
Some officers also guard the public inquiry, where M has to defend the MI6. During Silva's attack, some officers are shot.
Afterwards, heavily armed SCO19 officers arrive at the scene, visible when Bond and M leave the building in her Jaguar XJ L.
After Ernst Stavro Blofeld's helicopter crash-lands on Westminster Bridge in Spectre, several SCO19 officers quickly arrive, but M orders their team leader to stop the operation.
