Michael Kamen was an American composer and conductor. His most famous work may have been his numerous film scores, most famously for the Lethal Weapon film series, as well as the sixteenth Bond film, Licence to Kill. In addition, he also provided music for the first Die Hard film, X-Men, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Brazil (starring Jonathan Pryce), The Iron Giant, Memento, What Dreams May Come and the series Band of Brothers.

Kamen was also known for his popularity as an arranger with many pop and rock music, including David Bowie, Tom Petty, Queen, Metallica, Sting, Coldplay, Kate Bush and Guns'n'Roses, among numerous others. He was noted as one of the few people who worked with Pink Floyd before their splitup and with both members after the fact. He became orchestra conductor of multiple all-stars charity concerts hosted by legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti at the opera star's hometown of Modena, Italy.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997, Kamen passed away from a heart attack in 2003 at the age of 55.

Bond involvement[]

Kamen's musical work for Licence to Kill was noted for its dark, suspenseful notes as well as having Latin vibes strengthened by flamenco-style acoustic lines, reflecting the story being mainly set in a South American country and that the main villain, as well as most of his accomplices, are Latin people.
