The mobile phone was a communications device developed by the British Secret Intelligence Service's (SIS/MI6) research and development division, Q-Branch. Used during the Sony PlayStation video-game The World Is Not Enough (2000), it concealed a finger print scanning device.
History[]
Issued by R during James Bond's mission briefing, the device was used to bypass security doors during Bond's meeting with corrupt Swiss banker, Lachaise, in Bilbao, Spain.[1] The phone is a generic handset with no identifying insignia aside from illegible white text above the display. The device's design is similar, but not identical to the Ericsson JB988. Its key layout consists of a pair of call answer/end buttons, number pad and menu navigation toggle located below the green monochrome LCD display. Hidden in the top of the phone is a finger print scanner designed to defeat sophisticated lock and security systems.
