Mr. Krug was a fictional abusive South African patient planning on attending the DNA replacement therapy clinic, La Clinica Alvarez, on the Isla de Los Organos, Cuba. James Bond uses him to gain access to the clinic. A minor character portrayed by British actor, Ian Pirie, he appeared in the 2002 James Bond film, Die Another Day, and was also featured in Raymond Benson's subsequent novelisation.

Biography[]

Having discovered North Korean terrorist Zao's location, James Bond attempts to infiltrate the Alvarez clinic on Los Organos island. After arriving at the Hotel De Los Organos, Bond meets Mr. Krug in reception - a South African with a sadistic and violent temper who threatens a waiter. From his room, Bond sweeps the coastline with his binoculars and discovers armed guards are suspiciously escorting patients in the grounds of the Alvarez clinic. The following day, Bond proceeds to Krug's room and knocks the man out cold. Throwing him into a wheelchair, Bond poses as a porter, using the man and his paperwork to gain access to the island. Inside the clinic, Bond creates a distraction by pushing Krug and the wheelchair down a stairwell while he ducks into a private room. His further fate is unknown.

Alternate Continuities[]

Die Another Day (novelisation)[]

Bond first encounters the abrasive Mr. Krug in the lobby of the Hotel De Los Organos; during which, the thug verbally abuses the hotel clerk. He is described as a cigar-smoking "burly creep with a South African accent".[1] Krug is staying in Suite 42 for one night, in preparation for his subsequent appointment at the DNA replacement therapy clinic.[1] Similar to the film, he is next encountered greeting an acquaintance at the hotel bar. After a waiter approaches him with papers for his appointment, he demands the man round up some girls and send them to his room; threatening him with castration by pistol.[1] The following morning, 007 grabs a wheelchair from the lobby and gains access to Krug's suite by posing as room service.[2] He knocks Krug out cold, pockets his papers, and heaves him into the wheelchair - using him to gain access to the clinic by posing as a porter. Like the film, Bond enters the clinic's Prohibited Area by shoving the unconscious Krug and his wheelchair down a flight of steps towards the guard.[2] While his fate is unknown, the novelization adds an additional scene during M's conference call with NSA chief Damian Falco, during which the NSA chastise the British with images of Bond entering the clinic lobby with Krug, along with BBC news footage of the event.[3]
