Biography[]

Trigger Mortis[]

In early 1942, during the Second World War, the Nazi German Luftwaffe formed seven Feldregimenter der Luftwaffe ("Luftwaffe Field Regiments") in the east. Luther served as a commander in one of the regiments and had fought against the Soviets on the eastern front. He carried a Sauer 38H pistol, with ivory inlay along the barrel and an ivory grip, as a souvenir of his time in the Luftwaffe.[2]

Around 1955[3], Luther began working for wealthy businessman and SMERSH associate, Sin Jai-Seong (AKA. Jason Sin). As Head of Security, he was tasked with managing security at his German businesses and his Bad Münstereifel castle residence, the Schloss Bronsart. In 1957[1], Luther oversees one of Sin's lavish post-Grand Prix parties at the castle, which is infiltrated by a suspicious James Bond and (separately) American Secret Service agent Jeopardy Lane. In order to gain access to the building's upper floors, 007 creeps up behind Luther whilst he smokes outside and knocks him unconscious. Feigning ignorance, he claims the bodyguard collapsed and looks for medical attention, drawing guards away from the staircases. In the aftermath, Sin punishes Luther by forcing him to select a random method of execution from his deck of lethal Hanafuda (flower cards) and compels him, by threatening the safety of his family, to commit suicide by hanging. The body was dumped in the castle lake by his successor, Mr. Artmann. He left behind a wife and two sons - age nine and fourteen, who were subsequently informed that he had died in an accident.[4]
