Patrick Macnee played Sir Godfrey Tibbett in A View to a Kill. However, he is best remembered for portraying secret agent John Steed in the 1960s spy-science fiction show The Avengers and the 1970s The New Avengers. His co-stars in the series had included Diana Rigg, Honor Blackman and Joanna Lumley who all featured in Bond films. The voice of Macnee was included in the 1998 film The Avengers which starred former Bond Sean Connery and future M Ralph Fiennes as Steed.
Macnee is also remembered for the 1978 American sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica (which also stars Jane Seymour, Britt Ekland, Bruce Glover, and Barry Nelson). He also co-starred with Roger Moore in Sherlock Holmes in New York (1976), which included John Huston, and The Sea Wolves (1980).
During the Second World War, Macnee commanded a Royal Navy Motor Torpedo Boat, and as part of his wartime service would land and recover secret agents from occupied Europe.
