Phillip Grojec was a Soviet intelligence operative and subordinate of Baron Sharck. The character served as a minor antagonist in the James Bond comic strip, Trouble Spot, which ran in The Daily Express newspapers between December 28, 1971 and June 10, 1972.

Biography[]

Travelling as Polish-born French citizen, "Phillip Grojec", the veracity of the Soviet intelligence operative's identity and background is open to conjecture. Grojec was dispatched by spymaster, Baron Sharck, to follow James Bond aboard Trans-Global flight 217 from Paris to Los Angeles. Tasked with extracting the location of a mysterious box, he joined the passengers during its brief stopover in London and attempted (and failed) to co-opt Bond's assistance by a phoney poisoning attempt. With the help of his assistant, Gretta, 007 turned the tables on Grojec and took him captive in Los Angeles. After interrogating him and evading his accomplice, who had been following them in a bronze Pontiac sedan, they strip the Soviet spy of his clothing and leave him by the roadside.
