Quarterdeck was a fictional Regency era manor-house on the edge of Windsor Forest occupied by M. M is served there by his faithful valet Chief Petty Officer Hammond, who served him likewise in the Royal Navy before his retirement to head MI6. The location was first introduced in Ian Fleming's 1963 novel, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and made its cinematic debut in its 1969 film adaption of the same name. It would later prominently appear in Kingsley Amis's 1968 continuation novel, Colonel Sun.
