The sand-torpedo is a self-propelled weapon with an explosive warhead, launched above or below the surface, tunnelling underground towards a target, and designed to detonate either on contact with its target or in proximity to it. The weapon appeared episode 4 ("Shifting Sands") of the 1991–92 spin-off animated television series, James Bond Jr., and was subsequently adapted for John Vincent's accompanying novelisation, Sandblast!

Pharaoh Fearo's underground warship, the Subterranean, was armed with a complement of sand-torpedoes. After his vessel is forced to the surface by James Bond Jr., and is set upon by a vengeful Sheikh, Fearo launches torpedoes at the approaching vehicles.
