Sergeant Pearlman is a SAS sergeant in the 1988 James Bond novel, Scorpius by John Gardner.

Novel biography[]

At the start of the novel, Sergeant Pearlman drives Bond back to Regent's Park in London, during which they are attacked and involved in a high-speed chase on an English motorway, but they arrive safely. Later on, Bond later takes Pearlman and Harriet Horner to a clinic where they interrogate a captured cult member who reveals the deadly ambition of the Society of the Meek Ones.

Following the bombing of the clinic, M suspects that Horner or Pearlman are serving as a mole to Scorpius. Shortly after, Bond is held at gunpoint by Pearlman at his home, who reveals to him that he had been feeding Scorpius information because his daughter, Ruth, is a member of the Meek Ones and he hopes to free her from the cult. Pearlman later flies Bond out to Scorpius' island headquarters in South Carolina. He is later reunited with his daughter in the Prayer Hall, but she is shortly led away by a bodyguard to fulfill a "death task". He is also a witness to Bond's "marriage" to Horner.

Following Scorpius' death, Bond, Pearlman, and David Wolkovsky race to Washington, D.C. to prevent the double assassination plot against the President of the United States and the British Prime Minister. As Ruth races to get close to the leaders, Pearlman draws his pistol, but hesitates. Bond ultimately shoots her, and later shoots Chief Superintendent Bailey who had been Scorpius' inside man.
