The Splittable Baton was a modified baton capable of splitting into two different devices: a disintegrator pistol and a smoke bomb. The device was developed by the British Secret Intelligence Service's (SIS/MI6) research and development division, Q-Branch and was used during the 1985 James Bond storybook Blackclaw's Doomsday Plot.
History[]
Issued by Q during James Bond's mission briefing in London, the splittable baton later sees usage when 007 is captured while investigating SMERSH villain Blackclaw's man-made island. Left unguarded in a cell and chained to Dr. Margaret Manfield by the wrist, the spy uses the dissolving substance in his Acid Wristwatch to break their metal shackles and then blows the lock off his cell door using the disintegrator pistol.
