Sydney Tafler was a British actor who portrayed the captain of the Liparus in the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me.
Over the course of a career that ran from 1941 up to his death, Tafler accrued over one hundred film and television credits, including a starring role in Wide Boy (1952) and parts in It Always Rains on Sunday (1947), Sink the Bismarck! (1960), Carry On Regardless (1961) and Alfie (1966). He was noted as commonly playing spivs (black market sellers), most famously in the aforementioned Wide Boy.
Sydney Tafler died on 8 November 1979 at the age of 63. The Spy Who Loved Me was his final film credit.
