Tchéky Karyo (4 October 1953 – 31 October 2025)[1] was a French actor who portrayed Dmitri Mishkin in GoldenEye.
He was born Baruh Djaki Karyo in Istanbul, Turkey - to a Turkish father from a Sephardic Jewish family of ancient Spanish origins and a Greek Orthodox mother. However, the family moved to France, where Tchéky spent his childhood in Paris. He would then study acting at the Cyrano Theatre and became a member of the Daniel Sorano Company, also attending the Théâtre National de Strasbourg.
He has starred in several Hollywood films, often playing French characters. Besides GoldenEye, films in which he has starred include The Bear (1988), A La Femme Nikita (1990), Bad Boys (1995) and Mary Magdalene (2018). In television, he had a leading role in The Missing, which aired from 2014 to 2016.
Karyo died in Brittany on October 31, 2025, due to cancer.[1]
