The Honourable Trilby Shrivenham is a British socialite who becomes a member of the religious cult, the Society of the Meek Ones, in the novel, Scorpius.
Novel biography[]
When Emma Dupré's body is recovered from the River Thames, Chief Superintendent Bailey tells James Bond that Trilby Shrivenham became addicted to heroin, in which she received help from Father Valentine who helped to kick her addiction. She later returned home and told her parents she would join the Society of the Meek Ones.
Shortly after, M is alerted that Shrivenham has been found in an semi-conscious state outside of her parents' home. Bond and Bailey arrive at the residence and see Trilby lying in bed repeatedly state that "The meek shall inherit the earth." For Trilby's protection, M advises that Shrivenham should be placed under the care of Sir James Molony, a Nobel Prize-winning neurologist. She is taken via ambulance to the Surrey Clinic.
Bond then visits Shrivenham at the clinic and records her warnings on his Sony Walkman recorder. Following the assassination of Lord Samuel Mills, Bond plays the recorded witch-like warnings with Bailey and M in attendance.
Following the bombing of the clinic, Sergeant Pearlman tells Bond that earlier that day, Harriet Horner stumbled upon three of Scorpius' men entering Trilby's room at the clinic, in which all three men kidnap Horner and Shrivenham. Pearlman takes Bond to Scorpius' headquarters in South Carolina in which Bond reunites with Horner. At dinner, Scorpius reveals to Bond that he has taken Shrivenham to be his new wife. Shrivenham reveals to Bond that Scorpius had weaned her off her heroin addiction and subsequently fell in love with him. Bond questions Scorpius as to how he helped Trilby recover, in which he replies through the use of vitamin injections, discipline, and methadone-administrated abstinence syndrome suppressants and hypnosis to help with the side effects.
After Bond, Wolkovsky, and Pearlman foil Scorpius' double assassination plot, M alerts that Bond that Shrivenham had been taken back to England and placed under Molony's care in which she will recover shortly.
