Valley Of The Hungry Dunes was the eleventh episode of the 1991 animated television series, James Bond Jr, produced by Murakami-Wolf-Swenson and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Animation. Written by Steven J. Fisher, the episode first aired on US television on 27th September 1991.

Plot

The episode opens with an assassination attempt being made on the life of Princess Yasmine of Al-Khaline at a British amusement park. After an unknown assailant sabotages the roller-coaster she is riding, James Bond Jr. rides a moped along the rails to rescue her. Her grateful father, Sheikh Yabootie, invites him and his friends to their royal yacht. Bond discovers that prior to the episode's events, the Sheikh discovered a vast underground reservoir of water. He turned down an offer by the criminal organisation, S.C.U.M., who intended to sell it to the desert region at extortionate prices. While on-board the ship, they are the subject of a second failed assassination attempt involving a laser-guided torpedo; which Bond re-directs using a mirror.

With Yabootie's influence, Bond and his companions get permission to accompany the family to Al-Khaline, where they inspect the Sheikh's irrigation project. There, it is revealed that his pipeline operator, Kasim, was pumping the water to Dr. No's base of operations in the Valley Of The Hungry Dunes. To regain control of the pumps, the Doctor sends Jaws and Nick Nack to raid the Sheikh's palace for a crucial piece of software. The villains are assisted by the Princess's discontent servant, Fatima; who takes Yasmine hostage as a bargaining chip. Dr. No holds the Princess and the Sheikh's water to ransom; threatening to pump it into the sea if his demands are not met.

Bond follows the villains to the Valley Of The Hungry Dunes, where he is captured and imprisoned with Yasmine. Bond finds a way to escape, and the pair sabotage Dr. No's operation by flooding the facility. Surprised at his daughter's aptitude, Sheikh Yabootie thanks the students and muses that perhaps it is time for cultural change in Al-Khaline.
