The Vampire Cult was a fictional religious drug cult secretly founded and operated by wealthy industrialist, Xerxes Xerophanos. The organisation was established to clandestinely assassinate business rivals. It appeared in the James Bond comic strip, The League of Vampires, which ran in The Daily Express newspapers between October 25, 1972 and February 28, 1973.
Appearances[]
Established by wealthy industrialist Xerxes Xerophanos, the hedonistic and secretive "vampire cult" made heavy use of psychedelic drugs to create converts and willing assassins - often introduced by way of laced red wine, or their operatives' signature False Fangs. The fangs were used both to intoxicate and conduct assassinations - injecting a lethal venom into the victims' neck; while simultaneously drugging the assassin and making them conveniently suggestible to suicide orders. The cult's recognition signal among initiates was a "V"-gesture (for "vampire") made with raised and parted index and middle fingers making a V shape. While nudity was commonplace at their orgiastic revels, members often wore domino masks and simple robes to conceal their identities. Meeting at a "vampire castle" in England, the cult was also active Corsica, and The Netherlands.
