The Volkswagen Type 1 - also known as the Volkswagen Beetle - is small family car that, while usually not in a major role, tends make a occasional, noticeable appearance in James Bond media.
The Type 1/Beetle was the German carmaker Volkswagen's first car model. It is one of the most widely produced car models in the human history, with a total of about 21.5 million Beetles being produced between 1938 and 2003. Its original German manufacture lasted until 1978, but it remained in production in Brazil and Mexico until 2003. In 1997, the carmaker would introduce the Volkswagen New Beetle as re-imagined new model, based on the original Type 1 Beetle.

Trivia[]
- There is a South American VW Beetle commercial from 1982 which portrays a James Bond-like figure - with many mannerisms of Bond actor Roger Moore - struggling with a DMC-12 "DeLorean" that's rapidly breaking down, complete with John Barry's score from Goldfinger. "Bond" gets frustrated with the broken down DMC-12 and uses a watch gadget to summon a Volkswagen Beetle and leave driving it. The commercial is narrated by Roberto Poblete.
